Financial & Administrative Planning

As your employee population ages the services your employees and their families need will change over time. You can help your employees and post-retirement alumni prepare for what comes next.

The financial and administrative planning tools from Southern Maine Agency on Aging are services and resources that can help individuals and families plan ahead for the changes in their lives.

Medicare Information

Provide your employees with unbiased information about Medicare in a 60 to 90 minute group session.

Our seminars are specifically designed for employees preparing to enroll in Medicare as new members or make changes to existing plans during Medicare's annual open enrollment period.

Sessions may be offered a few times a year and followed up with one on one counseling sessions to assist employees with sign-up for Medicare, reviewing insurance plans and drug formularies, or with any other questions they may have.

All sessions are facilitated by a fully-trained, highly-skilled, State Health Insurance Program (SHIP) Counselor. While counselors will not recommend or sell insurance programs, they will answer questions and teach participants how to consider their options.

Options Counseling

Options counseling can assist your employee in understanding the various benefits and eligibility requirements for resources available to support a family member in need of assistance. These include resources to age in place in the home or in assisted living or long term care. Our Resource Specialists provide unbiased information and resources that can help your employees and their loved ones navigate the planning process.

Sample Options Counseling resouces include:
• Available benefits for the older adult
• Long-term care planning steps and resources
• Aging in Place resources such as housingmodification, transportation, home care, and more.
